Monroe Tablet Unveiled.

His Inauguration is Commemorated at Fredericksburg, Va.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va., April 26 of the National Woman's party participated in ceremonies here today at the unveiling of bronze tablet commemorating the inauguration in 1817 of James Monroe.

President Hoover sent flowers and a letter expressing his regret at being unable to attend.

Mrs. Harvey W. Wiley of Washington, chairman of the National Woman's party, delivered the principal address accompanying presentation of the tablet, which was taken from the old brick capitol in Washington, subsequently used as headquarters of the party, and placed it today in the old law office of Monroe which is to be preserved as a shrine.

Mrs. Rose Gouverneur-Hoes, great granddaughter of President Monroe, and her son, Laurance Hoes accepted the tablet on behalf of the shrine.

The tablet commemorating this event was placed on the old brick building used as a capitol after Washington was burned by the British. When the brick building was torn down the National Woman's party preserved it.
